Mexico and c.
- Title:
- Mexico and c.
- Creator:
- Bingley, Jas. (James)
- Abstract:
- Published in London three years after the Mexican War of Independence, this map of Mexico captures evolving political changes and border transitions. Even though Spain had discontinued the designation in 1821, the Internal Provinces of New Spain are still labeled. While most of Texas is identified as San Luis de Potosí, an unnamed area to the north of the Internal Provinces reflects Spain’s tenuous presence north of San Sabá. There are prairies south of the Colorado River, though it could also be the Brazos River as these two were often conflated.
