- Title:
- Mexico or New Spain: in which the motions of Cortes may be traced
- Creator:
- Kitchin, Thomas, 1718-1784
- Abstract:
- This map appears in the atlas Rev. Dr. Robertson's History of America. Kitchin is listed as one of the map’s cartographers, though he is better known for serving as the English Royal Hydrographer. While the area between New Mexico and Louisiana is marked as “Great Space of Land unknown,” the map shows several of the indigenous Caddo settlements in northeast Texas, as well as LaSalle’s failed 1685 colony on Garcitas Creek near Lavaca Bay.
