- Creator:
- Stiff, Edward
- Abstract:
- Col. Edward Stiff’s The Texan Emigrant is an early guidebook to Texas with a map highlighting the empresario grants. Stiff writes that his motive for producing it was to “safely conduct emigrants to favourable localities, and in a cheap way acquaint them with things necessary to be known”; he explains that “he has supplied such data, as will enable those thinking of a removal, to knowingly decide if it is expedient to seek a home in the new Republic or not.”
